Goblins are short, skinny and pesky creatures that infest Arawyn like rats. They have green skin, small fangs, and typically look scrawny and malnourished. Goblins come in all shapes and sizes, most around four to five feet tall. Whether they are chasing lesser gobliniods or tagging along on Orc warpaths, Goblins are always around. It is said they learned to mate by watching rabbits, for their numbers are unceasing. They would overrun everything if not for their supreme lack of heroism. These medium sized goblinoids are rather diverse for such cowardly beings. Tribal Goblins are much more savage then their superiors, the Orcs. Goblins supply the Orc warlords with readily dispensable fodder and thus make for great raiders against larger nations. Wild Goblins enjoy fanatically killing and torturing other races. Orcs often prod their Goblin hordes into battle with threats of greater beatings. Wild Goblin threats are rarely taken seriously and easily handled by village guards.

Goblins often try to strive for military fame in the Hobgoblin Empire, a Goblin’s paradise. But there are a few Goblins who would rather indulge in their creative side, roaming the cobblestone streets as poets and artists. These little Goblins use all manner of perverse and weird subject matter to depict in their “expressions.” They sell these works on the open market often within the realms of other races that humor their inspired effort. Laughable as it seems, the Goblins believe in their work and want to share. Yet still there are even stranger Goblins, who strive to learn rudimentary knowledge of natural compounds. Goblin alchemists are an enigma among other Goblins, though they are actually brilliant, by Goblin terms. These mad alchemists live in secret corners of Gaaldron, devoted to their workings.

In a world dominated by many large beasts, Goblins are quick and well accustomed to danger. Imperial Goblins may be of the legion and militant, or be care-free and happy artists enchanted by life. Legionary Goblins take up lesser positions within the military and look at life as a long, hard journey. Goblin artists look to experience life and its many fine things. They are often the butt of jokes, but do not mind - they just laugh along and hope to get in a quick poem. Goblin alchemists are strange and frantic, continually trying to do odd things with strange and occasionally putrid substances. They are what humans would consider insane and it is obvious; they will avoid combat at all costs and are usually regarded as the lowliest cowards in all the land.

Goblins mature to adulthood in their early teenage years and have a life span of approximately thirty years.

Role-playing

  1. A Goblin must try to avoid a fight whenever it involves something she has done or an offense she has given; Goblins do not believe in stepping up and issuing or accepting challenges.
  2. A Goblin must quit a fight and try to escape if she sees anyone else on her side in the act of retreating. If an ally clearly communicates that she is leaving the battle for a specific purpose (e.g., to collect reinforcements), then the Goblin need not retreat. In addition, if an ally is calmly maneuvering around a battle and does not appear to be in flight, the Goblin need not retreat. If all allies who have retreated return to battle, the Goblin may return as well.
