I was strolling around Travance when I was there last when I discovered an almost unnoticeable narrow dirt lane behind the Dragon Claw Inn. It lead into the forest and fresh wagon ruts and footprints were the only indication of its recent use by quite a lot of traffic. I followed the lane into the forest and found my self surrounded by the sound of songbirds and small forest animals. I found myself hoping that I wouldn’t encounter a Bear or worse. In the distance I could hear the sounds of gay shouting and laughing. As I approached closer I could hear that someone playing a fiddle and people singing. Suddenly as I rounded a bend in the lane I saw a small clearing in the dense foliage. It was bustling with activity. There were many people dressed in brightly colored garb, dancing and singing as they scurried around the clearing carrying things here and there. In the center of the clearing was a large pile of firewood placed strategically near a ring of stones. Scattered around the clearing and into the woods were almost a dozen wagons. Most were the type of wagon used by transients for shelter. Each had a door and stair at the back and a window in each side. They were all colorfully decorated. I then realized that I had found the Gypsy encampment.
