Battle Casting (Depreciated)

Introduction:

  • Battle Casting is available to Druids, Mages, Psionisists, and Priests.
  • You may combine multiple Battle Lore Skills in one attack. You will only need to use the word “With” once when doing this. For example: “With Perfect Aim, Speed Cast, Double Power; (Verbal) …”
  • You may not use Battle Casting in conjunction with any higher list abilities or magic.
  • The Battle Casting higher list can only be taught between players that have access to the same profession. Thus, for example, a druid must learn Battle Casting from someone else who has the druid profession list and the appropriate requirements to teach Battle Casting. This applies to the list and to all skills on the list.

Prerequisites:

  • Two 4th Rank Spells, Prayers, Psion Abilities, or Druid Spells
  • 7th Level

Skills:

Create Battle Focus

Usage: Once

This ability allows the individual to create the standard focus for invoking Battle Lore. The Battle Lore Master must have this item on their person in order to invoke these abilities. Should the focus be lost or destroyed, the skill must be repurchased for a new focus to be created. Note should the character already be a Valence Mage and have a focus, they may use this skill to modify it to act as a focus for both classes.

One Handed Edge / Blunt Weapon

Weapon Cast

Build: 5

Pre-Req.: Any Weapon Skill
Usage: Continuous
Verbal: The normal spell verbal

This skill gives the ability to cast a spell or prayer through their weapon. After reciting the verbal they have but 5 seconds to make contact with their target or the spell will dissipate. You must come into contact with the body (as if doing damage or delivering a tag skill) in order for the spell to have effect.  If more than five seconds go by and you have not landed a successful blow, the spell is wasted and the MP are used up, just as if you missed with a spell packet.

Double Power

Build: 5

Usage: Periodic
Verbal: “With Double Power…”

With this skill, the character must expend twice the casting points of the spell or prayer. As a result they will double the damage or armor value of the spell or prayer. However, it will not increase a duration or area of effect, only a damage or armor value.

Perfect Aim

Usage: Periodic
Verbal: “With Perfect Aim…”

For each purchase of this skill the character may cast a spell without the use of a spell packet. The caster must have their arm and finger extended and pointing at the target (Caster may not be paralyzed or immobilized). To invoke this skill you must call “Perfect Aim” and then the spell incantation. The caster must also have a clear line of sight of the target.  For the range, the caster must be capable to have thrown the spell packet the distance for this to work.  The caster may be asked to throw a packet as far as the target if the range is questionable, but it does not need to be accurate.

Speed Cast

Verbal: “Speed Cast…”

For each purchase of this skill, the character may cast a spell or prayer merely by saying “Speed Cast” and the name of the spell. You may use the shortened name of the spell (for instance, “Domination” instead of “fell you into domination”).

Spell Holding

Usage: Periodic
Verbal: “With Spell Holding…”

With this ability, the character may invoke a spell or prayer and hold the active spell packet for up to 5 minutes before they must throw the spell. The character must also say the name of the spell at least every 30 seconds or the spell will fade. You may use the shortened name of the spell.

Spell Immunity

Pre-Req.: The Spell being used
Usage: Continuous

With this ability, one may become immune to a spell or prayer. However, they will no longer be able to cast the spell or make scrolls of it, and the build for learning the spell will not be refunded. This skill may only be used on a spell that the character has learned.  Note: The character may still cast the spell through the use of a scroll written by someone else.

Spell Proficiency

Build: 6
Maximum: 5 Purchases
Pre-Req.: The Spell being used
Usage: Continuous

With this skill, the caster may specialize in a spell or prayer. For each purchase of the skill, the caster may cast her specialized spell for one less casting point. You may purchase this skill to reduce the point cost up to 50% only, rounded up (A 3 point spell can only be lowered to 2). No casting cost can be reduced to zero.

Battle Lore Teacher

Pre-Req.: 40 Build from this list in at least 4 different skills
Usage: Continuous

This skill allows you to teach this list. A Master List Teacher can only teach (open for another PC) the actual advanced list itself once every six months. A PC teacher must be approved by the Director & Atmosphere Officer before they can learn this skill.
