The Director is the owner of Knight Realms and the grounds that the game runs on, Camp Sacajawea. The Director manages all aspects of the site, the organization, and the game. The Director is ultimately responsible for all aspects of the game, and he may make changes to better fit his vision and direction, with the goal of making a better experience for the players. As manager of all aspects of the game, the Director may complete responsibilities of any of our marshal or volunteer roles during or between gameplay weekends.
Knight Realms Officers

The Officers of the game assist the Director in deciding game policy, actively running the events, and managing the game. Officers serve as the highest point of contact and authority below the Director for all player and staff needs. They can make decisions necessary for the betterment of the game and players. Players and staff should follow the chain of command, however, and first seek the appropriate marshal or lead when trying to resolve issues. At Director discretion, the Officers may take on specific roles within a team or the game to best assist in improving gameplay and player experience.
While the officers have authority over all departments as needed, each directly oversees specific responsibilities more closely and is the officer whom those departments should seek out in relation to questions or suggestions regarding them.
Community Support (Alice) Gameplay Management (Steve)
Community Representatives Monster Marshals
Atmosphere Marshals Rules Design
Field Referees Plot Committee
Safety Marshals Card Marshals
Volunteer Staff Teams
All of the teams at Knight Realms help the game run smoothly with both at and between game responsibilities. Each have specific tasks they perform, and are managed by an individual leader.
Atmosphere Marshals - Jenn C.
Discord: Jenn05
The Atmosphere team exists to provide player support in building and maintaining a high quality game environment. They are people who are knowledgeable on the tone and vibe of the game’s genre and can help direct players to resources that will help them get there.
The Atmosphere team also aims to provide information about ways to improve players’ ability to add to the atmosphere of the game, and reward those who go above and beyond to create a living world for everyone to play in, and recognize them for their effort.
Atmosphere marshals are intended to be the role models of best practices regarding roleplay, costuming, props, etc. and the way they actively engage with potentially anachronistic activities or topics. They will always be willing to give advice where needed and should be easily approachable for these things (as long as you’re not interrupting an active engagement to pull them out of game). They are not available 24/7, but should be reasonably reachable in between events.
Card Marshals - Mara Y.
Discord: Darth_Raptor
The purpose of the Card Marshal is primarily to maintain the accurate records of character cards within the database, and helping players with any necessary changes or updates to their cards. Most of the work is within the database between events, but there is some work to be done during events with helping players build new cards as needed.
Card Marshals have a unique access to all the information about a character one may want to keep secret, and so discretion is incredibly important for the marshal to uphold. Discretion is considered a key quality of a Card Team member when it comes to keeping the secrets of the player base, and no information should be shared (directly or via allusion) about a player's card without their express consent. Metagaming by outing a player/character that has an evil or secret list based on the OOG knowledge gained from updating a card is never acceptable. In instances where a team member is pursuing CvC action, they should aim to keep accurate written record of the in-game evidence and reasonings of their pursuit.
Community Representatives - Mark M.
Discord: Snowconez77
The community representatives exist with the intent to hone in on bringing players together, making them feel like a part of the whole, and help bridge the gap between staff and player. Their objective is to make everyone at the game feel like they belong, while also helping to resolve interpersonal issues as a third party mediary.
A secondary aspect of the job is to aid in integrating new players into the game, as well as helping new characters integrate where possible. Part of the new player/character experience should be in helping them feel comfortable and establish connections to ensure they feel welcome and wanted.
A different, but equally important secondary aspect, is assisting in player retention, which primarily focuses on the veteran player experience and making sure they feel like they are valued players.
Field Referees - Alex S.
Discord: Thunderfist15
The referee’s purpose is to facilitate a smoother combat experience, aiming to ensure that the fairest assessment is made in times of disputes.
The objective of a referee’s call is not to be the most accurate to the letter of the rule, but follow the spirit of the rules and make in-the-moment decisions that will facilitate the smoothest and fairest course of action in the encounter.
At its core, combat at Knight Realms is a contact sport and follows the principles of good sportsmanship, honesty, and fair play. The purpose of this is intended to bring those qualities out of players even when a situation may be stressful. If ever a call is made that a player feels was bad judgment, the call will be posted for review so that future combat scenarios will be better adjudicated.
A referee will always be in a white headband watching the encounter and not participating to ensure both a better vantage to observe, but also to ensure an unbiased and clear perspective of as much of the encounter as they can see. Although we want you to follow a referee's call on the field regardless of your feelings on the call, we do expect the referee to deliver their call to you in a non-aggressive way. Sometimes it's hard not to feel targeted when someone makes a call that is not in your favor, and so the referees will be trained to work on their own on-field cadence and their use of words.
Monster Marshals - James Kimball
Discord: JamesCKimball
The Monster Marshals are the core of the game’s content generation. They serve to create the bulk of the experience utilizing the site, NPCs, props, and everything at their disposal to build engagement with everything from major plot to the random bandit on the road. They assist with Weekend Plot Runners in executing their stories for the game, and assist with any needs a player may have with Logistics.
The Monster Marshal's goal is the make the game fun, this includes for the NPCs currently on their shift. They should be actively engaging with everyone on shift, making sure they're not overworked, and making sure that the players and NPCs alike are feeling good about the experience they are having.
Safety Marshals - Conor P.
Discord: Wayfinder1992
The Safety Marshals serve as an immediate response to minor sports injuries and basic medical issues. They are meant to help with mitigating potential risks to players while on site, such as awareness of dangerous weather, terrain, etc.
Plot Committee - Steve Oros
Discord: Getwrekkt
The purpose of the plot committee is to oversee the general overarching story of Knight Realms, and are well versed in the story - past, present, and future - of the game. They work together in crafting the world-scope narrative of the game at the direction of the Director. Those on the team have a clear and full understanding of the game cosmology.
The plot committee are the most knowledgeable players on the game world, its secrets, genre, and direction. They should be reasonably available to answer questions singularly and as a team when it makes sense. There are an amount of game world secrets that exist, and will potentially remain secret for the sake of cosmic mysteries or other reasons, and players should expect that they cannot just get all the answers to everything from the team as they wish.
Rules Developers - Tim P.
Discord: OrganicGolem
The rules developers are responsible for designing rules updates under the direction of the Rules Development Lead and the Director of Knight Realms. Their goal is to create fun rules that excites players from a thematic standpoint, rules that help to maintain game immersion instead of breaking it and rules that prioritize those above elements far above notions of minutiae game balance. Balance should be looked at as an overall general sense of balance and not as balance that would specifically compare one class write up against another in a fight. Role-play, Utility, Crafting and other non-combat skills are considered equally as valuable to a class as combat skills.
Deputies
Deputies are team members who may have specific jobs or tasks within a department that do not fully match with the full responsibilities of the department, but are necessary or valuable to the function and growth of the game. They are specific people who may or may not have others working with the same task. Each deputy is unique in their responsibility.
Inventory Manager - Nick C.
The Inventory Manager serves as the inventory manager for Logistics, making sure to keep accurate records of what logistics goes into an event with and what they need after an event. They are responsible for making card purchases, doing donation drives for inventory, and keeping the site owners aware of what they may need to purchase for logistics. The Inventory Manager works under the Monster Lead.
Bar Manager - Dayna L.
The Bar Manager is responsible for maintaining and purchasing inventory for the Dragon’s Claw Inn primarily, but also checking in with the Blackbird and Wolves Den. The Bar Manager keeps stock of the basic consumable needs (paper towels, cups, drinks, etc.) and makes monthly purchases to make sure each event is prepared. They also work to have PC fronted bar staff at all the bars when possible. The Bar Manager works under the Atmosphere Lead.
Head Chef - Marybeth B.
The Head Chef is responsible for maintaining the kitchen and managing its use. Normally, they will provide a food service for players at most events, and regulate player use of the kitchen based on their needs. Quarterly, they cook a game-wide feast for all players, where kitchen use will be much more limited.
Photography Coordinator - Percy U.
The Photography Coordinator is responsible for ensuring event photos are taken, primarily of the main weekend plot and its NPCs/engagement, as well as other key moments in the game for the purposes of outward advertisement, inward marketing, and player excitement. At their discretion, they can ask others to also take photos and assist, following the same guidelines decided upon by the coordinator and officers/director. The Photography Coordinator works under the Community Lead.
Web Administrator - Drew B.
The Web Administrator is responsible for maintaining and resolving issues with the website, discord, card database, or any of the game’s online platforms where needed. The Web Administrator works under the Director.
