Heroes of Travance,
For this upcoming moon, we have agreed to engage in war games with an agent of Necrophitus named Danarest. Many of you have already gone over the rules of these games and know what is happening. For any who have not, you have but to inquire with any of the nobles and countless others and the information will be freely shared.
I allowed us to enter into this agreement because I fully trust you to win. I have little doubt that you can overachieve at this little game of capture the flag and perhaps glean more insight as to what can be gained by playing along with and succeeding at this challenge. I will be present for much of this feast and will be wielding our side's banner, to help even the odds of their banner being held up in a fortified castle.
By all topical observations, these war games appear as not an activity with high stakes. Most of you however I am sure are keen enough to see that lasting effects could result from our win or loss. This being is indisputably an agent for the side of evil. I do not know if his intentions are as straightforward as he has presented them or not. Truthfully, a much younger me would have lured him into a building under a flag of truce and burned him alive within. However times have changed, and I now have responsibilities to the Kingdom that takes priority over my base nature to perform harsher actions to the end of protecting those I love. As Warden of Kormyre, I must conduct myself to a standard far higher than that. To that end I need you to know that I cannot be present for any attempts to break the agreement that has been set forth, nor will I purposefully look the other way. If I personally witness such attempts you will find me there to stop them.
Some of our town members have chosen to be hired by the other side in this war game. Under the rules agreed upon, this has been deemed acceptable, but only to the degree to which the rules outline. There are laws in place to determine whether treason is being committed and those laws will be exercised. Anyone found to be breaking a law will be punished to the correct measure, no more and no less.
Also as you may have heard this month we will be hosting a baronial feast. Any nobles who need the platform to announce promotions or accolades should reach out to me to make arrangements.
For almost a year I have been buried in paperwork and so it has been sometime since I have properly stretched my legs across the proper. I will look forward to seeing you all soon.
By my will proclaimed,
Count Sebastian Everest Warden of Kormyre
