In the coming moons I would greatly appreciate it if folks would attach any information they have on Mimics and Doppelgangers onto this posting.
But more importantly and more pertinently, any information about sightings or reports of anything that could be Mimic or Doppelganger activity in the coming moons. If I know you more personally I prefer you send the information to me directly. Whether that be in addition to posting it below, or instead of that, it doesn't really matter to me so long as I get the information.
With my thanks in advance,
- Amhrán Briste-Laoch
To cover the basics for those who don't know, mimics are a type of arkanite. That is, abberant beings of the arcane variety. They can take on the form on inanimate objects to lure in unsuspecting prey. In rare cases mimics have worked together, which lead scholars to theorize that they can communicate, and even adapt and learn. Given the encounter with the two 'evolved' mimics last moon, I'd wager that these theories are correct.
Doppelgangers, also arkanites if I'm not mistaken, are known for their ability to copy people, and probably other living creatures too. They even gain some of the memories of those that they are impersonating. They are very intelligent and a right pain to deal with. A group of us fought one around a year ago, and we killed it, but I'm pretty sure the reason we didn't get dragged through the mud was because it was in a weakened state. In other words never fight one alone, it's probably stronger than you. The same goes for the unusually strong mimics I'm after. I found nothing about the particular mimics we fast last moon, or the tower they resided in. No record or mention of it, and nothing resembling it. Those two and the tower were unknown to the world up until recently.
I apologize for the limited information, but this is why I stick to hitting things I guess.

Ephrem, I will do so.
Ilana, the correlation is that the mimics I am looking for could easily be confused for doppelgangers. These mimics were able to become people, although I don't know if they can speak like a doppelganger can.
Tom, thank you for the accounts and hunting advice. These two were quite a bit more wily than average, but here's hoping that the same tactics for beating them apply.

Ah Mimics, Some traveling minstrel I met said Mimics was the God's way of telling jokes only they could laugh at. He got ate. My Grammy' said Mimics was sent down by Malyc to snatch up all the greedy boys who try to grab meat-pies from ledges before they're cooled- and they've gotten real wilily since then.
One time I heard of a mimic what was a house. One time I saw a mimic that what was a door. One time I heard of a mimic that was a suit of glittering armor. One time I heard of a mimic what was a turkey dinner. The mimic is a clever form of vermin but I assure you if you strike it enough about whatever body it presents itself with, historically they've succumb to rocks, blades, and larger rocks. Never too quick on any particular draw- they just know how to turn to one thing folk can't seem to keep their hands off of. Beyond that and teeth like a shark (and the odd magical cantrip) they ain't got much else in the deck. Best way not to befall a Mimic is just not touching things that ain't yours- and treat everything that ain't like it might bite you. Hasn't failed me yet. I'm curious to the correlation? Both are aberrant but very different last I checked. Not sure how things have settled since the weave merged one way or another however.
I can provide some information but it, admittedly, may be outdated.

Thank you Amhrán.
Keep me posted, please, on any findings.
