Two households, both alike in dignity,
In noble Travance, where we lay our scene,
From ancient tales break to new mutiny,
Where beastkin blood makes beastkin hands unclean.
From forth the fatal wills of these two foes
A pair of fate-cross'd leaders bring their clans;
Whose misadventured piteous overthrows
Do with their summoning unfold their deities’ plans.
The fearful passage of their death-mark'd clans,
And the continuance of their deities’ rage,
Which, but their children's end, nought could remove,
Is now the two days' traffic of our stage;
The which if you with patient ears attend,
What here shall miss, our toil shall strive to mend.
