Players are not permitted behind the bar at any time unless they are actively working as part of the bar staff. All supplies, equipment, and materials behind the bar are funded directly through Patreon support or the personal contributions of our bartenders. Because of this, it is essential that these items remain secure and used only by those responsible for managing them. We have recently encountered situations where bartenders’ personal belongings were mistaken for communal items, which has caused understandable concern. To maintain fairness, respect, and the integrity of our workspace, please do not enter or access anything behind the bar without a bartender present. If you need assistance, a bartender will be happy to help from the front of the bar when available.

  • Prologue December 2025

The Legend of the Manananggal as Told by Solarians: Even in the dead of night, Asuang, a dedicated Solar Knight, could feel the rays of Naesala at the end of the path she walked. She had given much of her life in service, and this illness made the rays that she used to find solace in, instead, fill her with pain. She was not sure what was wrong. She thought she was helping a sick man, but he had bitten her. At the time, she felt worse for failing him. However, she now found herself unwell, and despite the injury healing, she knew her malady was from that bite.  It was unfortunate for Asuang that vampires would not be understood in Toko Oro Sol for many years still. So, she did what anyone else in her position would do. She pilgrimaged to a trial of Naesala, in hopes that Naesala would see the dedication and purge her of whatever her malady was. Despite the hope in her heart and the conviction to see it through, she would succumb fully to the disease in her last steps. Naesala’s attention was drawn in those final moments, and in an attempt to rid Asuang of the disease, they used their power to destroy the bodily corruption. Asuang quickly became an unwilling participant in the act, as the very power to purge the corruption also delivered pain that felt like death.  In a malicious retort, Asuang broke her oaths as she struck Naesala. In the conflict, she managed to grab one single feather. Naesala utilized the connection between themself and the feather to encapsulate the disease. The Primal Spirit hoped that one day Asuang would have enough sense to let them help. However, as with all living things, the disease twisted within this cage, the feather transforming into a small black chick inside the former Solar Knight.  On a well-trodden road towards Travance In the late afternoon, a wagon carrying four common folk rattles on towards the town. They knew that within the next day or so, they should reach Travance Proper. As much as the group wanted to push the horses harder, they knew it was better to stop, especially with the sun starting to set.  No one in the Wagon was excited to be part of the party to reach out to the ones who could help their home, but with the Headman and the Town Healer dead, there were very few pillars of Thistlepine Hollow left and very many ill and endangered villagers.Locke, the apprentice to the former healer, organized the emergency travel with several other villagers. They had begun to learn about organizing and knowing when it was not a problem to solve alone, thanks to their mentor. After some pleading, the newest to town, Zoren, rode on the very back edge of the wagon. He had not intended to make the village his home, but when he arrived, the town needed a healer, and Locke convinced him to stay to mentor them. After settling on a spot, they started to set a fire. The sun would soon disappear over the horizon, and warmth was needed before then. The group sat around, together, trying to reassure one another that the Heroes of Travance would save their village. Certainly, Thistlepine Hollow was worth saving? Their discussion, however, would be cut short as they heard the flapping of large leathery wings and the sounds of a large bat locking onto the group. Then there were only screams and scrambling.

  • Epilogue for November 2025

As the power over stories was stripped from the Dreamer’s hands, ink began to return to the pages. It started with drops and then rivers and torrents. Each word repenning itself back into the paper. Each drawing reillustrated by an artisan’s hand. People began to remember the stories once more. Though if you weren’t a Hero of Travance you wouldn’t notice the changes to the tales.  Maeve once again regaled her daughter with the tale of Ser Alfid and the Lochmire Beast, albeit with the addition of a rather grumpy  lawman who aided the knight in her quest. The skald, telling the story of the Wolf, gave mention of an enterprising lord within the edda whose signet ring could rally a pack of wolves of his own. The Chosen did not face the Wyrm alone but instead an army of warriors with emblazoned spears made their way into its lair. Elaine could not help but chuckle as she sealed away the First Books within their wards, thinking about how the tales have been changed for the better by the intervention of Travance. Hopes and dreams were not just restored. They were emblazoned.        Ser Calenhal noticed just how different his story felt when he returned. A day or so before he found himself thrust into the real world. The reveal that he was a story did not hold weight to him. The virtuous actions of the Heroes of Travance did hold weight to him. He played with the gold coin in his pocket as he reminisced, a gift from another world with good people and virtuous knights. The Archmage Mirion found in their time in the proper a boundless curiosity that rivaled their own. They studied a journal given to them by an enterprising mage, a piece of the world they visited that they can always study. The Princess saw from the Heroes kindness and willingness to admit fault. As rugged and cruel as they can act they were willing to hold themselves accountable when they knew they were wrong. She gazed upon a small statue made of a corncob upon her mantle, a token of the friends she had made.           Naiche awoke from a nap in a sunbeam, a steaming mug of cider near them. They grabbed a blanket that was crumpled on the floor as they experienced the cold of the December air. Being real meant that they had to learn a lot of new things. Though these new things were strange to think about, such as cooking or the cold, they have friends that are willing to teach them. Naiche never had friends before. No story would ever let them. But they're not a Trickster anymore. They're Naiche. They thought about all the tricks they played on Travance as they lazily wrapped themself in the blanket. Their tricks are theirs and they wouldn't have it any other way.         The Chosen took a moment to reminisce upon her story before she heard the call to action. Once upon a time she was a humble scholar, a scribe of Chronicler. She was loved. She had friends and family that cherished her. She had a home where she was truly herself, ever devoted to the Great Story . But that was a chapter in the tale of the Chosen. She was no longer a scribe. She is a Tale. She is a story. “In this moment and all others, my feet tread this path gladly”. Words uttered upon a battlefield that now carry the Chosen ever forward.  And they all lived happily ever after.

  • Prologue for November 2025

Once upon a time stories began to leave their pages. It started with drops of ink dripping off parchment and paper, innocuous at first as readers thought the books and newspapers they were reading just had not fully dried. Drops turned to words, words turned to pages and pages turned into entire books as they went blank.  Maeve read to her daughter the story of Ser Alfid and the Lochmire Beast at bedtime. She has been doing this for months now and secretly hoped for her daughter to get bored of it, but her raptured eyes as she sat underneath the blanket was enough for Maeve to continue the tradition. She made it an effort to accentuate every sword swing, every movement to make the story everything her daughter wanted it to be. “The knight turned to the beast and said…” She could not read the words on the page. They were falling away. She tried to remember. After all she has read this story dozens of times but nothing came to mind. The title of the book faded away, and with that her daughter’s dreams of heroic deeds and slaying monsters.  The skald forgot his voice as he was telling the tale of the Winter Wolf. For a moment he thought it was the cold that got in the way of his words but as he tried to recollect he could not for the life of him remember the words of the edda. He looked towards the drawings etched into wood on the wall of the longhouse but there was no drawing as the etching disappeared within moments. He could only sit in silence as he knew something was missing but he could not remember just what it was. Only that it was something that his father and fathers before would tell their people.  Archivist Elaine could not believe her eyes as the books trapped behind enchanted chains and warding began to rattle. Each of the tomes a world within the pages, brought to life by their very readers. They buckled and shook as ink began to fall upon the floor. She knew that days before a book went missing from their archives, an omnibus created by a former member containing many fantastical tales. She ran into an office as panicked archivists, wayfarers and librarians of the Order of the Forgotten Tome tried to calm the storm of pages and ink in front of them. She quickly lit a candle, muttered words in the arcane tongue and scried upon where this could be. She saw the tome nestled in the bag of a traveller headed to Travance. As she went to end the ritual, with a wave of a hand the traveller took control, his eyes settled on the Archivist’s. “Soon my dream will be realized,” He sneered, “the Hero will die and in its absence shall be a god.” Cold sweat ran down her back as she collected her things and rushed back to a Proper that she knew from a book of Knights so long ago.
